Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Chiesa by Louay Kayyali was auctioned at Bonhams in London in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 19,125.00 (€ 22,498.74). Admittedly, works by Louay Kayyali have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Cake (Kaak) Seller in June 2020 with an auction result of GBP 137,562.00 (€ 151,500.70).
