In March 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction 20th Century Art / Middle East, which included the work Flowers by Louay Kayyali. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 21,250.00 (€ 23,995.60), 42% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Louay Kayyali have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Cake (Kaak) Seller in June 2020 with an auction result of GBP 137,562.00 (€ 151,500.70).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 42 % übertroffen
Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion 20th Century Art / Middle East durch, in der auch die Arbeit Flowers von Louay Kayyali zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 21.250,00 (€ 23.995,60) und damit 42% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Louay Kayyali auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Cake (Kaak) Seller im Juni 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 137.562,00 (€ 151.500,70).
