In June 2008 Sothebys in Amsterdam held the auction Modern & Contemporary Art, which included the work American Totem by Keith Haring. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 25,950.00 44% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Keith Haring achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in May 2017 with an auction result of USD 6,537,500.00 (€ 5,818,351.73).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 44 % übertroffen
Im Juni 2008 führte Sothebys in Amsterdam die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit American Totem von Keith Haring zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 25.950,00 und damit 44% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Keith Haring erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Mai 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 6.537.500,00 (€ 5.818.351,73).
