Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2003 Christies in New York held the auction JAPANESE AND KOREAN ART, which included the work Nara Nigatsudo (Nigatsudo Hall Todaiji Temple, Nara), from the series Tabimiyage dai nishu (Souvenirs of travel--second series) by Kawase Hasui. The price achieved of USD 3,346.00 (€ 3,069.72) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 3,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Kawase Hasui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Hiraizumi Konjikido (Konjiki Hall At Hiraizumi) in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 75,000.00 (€ 64,783.62).
