An oban tate-e print, titled Hiraizumi Chusonji Konjikido (Konjiki Hall of Chuson Temple in Hiraizumi), depicting a tranquil scene at dusk, a single star twinkling between the tall majestic cedar trees above the wood structure of Konjiki Hall, dappled shadows cast from an unseen moon on the stone steps in the foreground, from the series Nihon fukei shu higashi Nihon hen (Collection of Scenic Views of Japan, Eastern Japan Edition), dated Showa junen jugatsu saku (Work of October, Showa 10 [1935]), published by Watanabe Shozaburo, with a Hanken shoyu Watanabe Shozaburo seal along the lower right margin; signed Hasui with Kawase seal. 38.5cm x 25.7cm (15 1/16in x 10 1/8in).

The work Hiraizumi Chusonji Konjikido (Konjiki Hall of Chuson Temple in Hiraizumi) by Kawase Hasui was sold in the From Harunobu to Hasui | Japanese Prints across the centuries auction at Bonhams in London in May this year. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 7,680.00 (€ 8,935.73), 54% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Kawase Hasui have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Hiraizumi Konjikido (Konjiki Hall At Hiraizumi) in September 2021 with an auction result of USD 75,000.00 (€ 64,783.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 54 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Hiraizumi Chusonji Konjikido (Konjiki Hall of Chuson Temple in Hiraizumi) von Kawase Hasui wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion From Harunobu to Hasui | Japanese Prints across the centuries bei Bonhams in London versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 7.680,00 (€ 8.935,73) und damit 54% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Kawase Hasui auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Hiraizumi Konjikido (Konjiki Hall At Hiraizumi) im September 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 75.000,00 (€ 64.783,62).
