Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price

The work Benten pond, Shiba (Shiba Benten ike) by Kawase Hasui was worth GBP 17,640.00 (€ 21,040.82) to a buyer in December 2021. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Japanese Prints at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 3,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kawase Hasui - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Hiraizumi Konjikido (Konjiki Hall At Hiraizumi), which sold at auction in September 2021 for USD 75,000.00 (€ 64,783.62).

Die Arbeit Benten pond, Shiba (Shiba Benten ike) von Kawase Hasui war einem Käufer im Dezember 2021 GBP 17.640,00 (€ 21.040,82) wert. Dieser Preise wurde in der Auktion Fine Japanese Prints bei Sothebys in London erzielt und übertraf den zuvor angesetzten oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 3.000,00 um ein Vielfaches. Für andere Arbeiten von Kawase Hasui mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Hiraizumi Konjikido (Konjiki Hall At Hiraizumi) beobachtet, die im September 2021 für USD 75.000,00 (€ 64.783,62) versteigert wurde.
