In October 2000 a collector was able to acquire the work A Sunny Afternoon on the Chiemsee by Karl Raupp for USD 58,750.00 (€ 69,231.68). This price was achieved in the auction Nineteenth Century European Art at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00 set by the auction house. Despite this disappointing result, A Sunny Afternoon on the Chiemsee is the most expensive artwork by Karl Raupp that we have observed at auction so far.
