Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2009 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included the work Animal by Karel Appel. The price achieved of EUR 31,000.00 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Karel Appel achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two birds and a Flower in December 2012 with an auction result of EUR 841,000.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2009 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Animal von Karel Appel zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 31.000,00 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 25.000,00 – 35.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Karel Appel erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two birds and a Flower im Dezember 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 841.000,00.
