Artwork auctioned at seven times the upper estimate price
The work Bird on a Branch by Ju Chao was worth HKD 350,000.00 (€ 36,460.69) to a buyer in May 2012. This price was achieved in the auction Fine Chinese Classical Paintings and Calligraphy at Christies in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 50,000.00 many times over. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ju Chao - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Flowers, which sold at auction in October last year for HKD 960,000.00 (€ 123,019.93).
