This artwork by Joris van Son achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in December 2011. In the An Iberian Private Collection Part II: Furniture, Silver, Jewellery, Paintings, European, Chinese & Islamic Ceramics auction, the work Peaches, grapes, nectarines, strawberries, cherries, corn, a pomegranate and other fruit hanging from a blue ribbon in a niche sold for GBP 61,250.00 (€ 73,355.53) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Joris van Son; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Still Life With Grapes, A Melon, An Orange, Plums And Oysters In A Stone Niche sold at auction in April 2013 with the realized price of GBP 110,500.00 (€ 130,396.38).
