Artwork auctioned at four times the upper estimate price
When the work Coast Glitter No. 2 by John Kørner was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2020, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 1,800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than four times as high at USD 8,750.00 (€ 7,987.22). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by John Kørner - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Bird Man, which sold at auction in October 2014 for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 23,941.04).
Kunstwerk zum Vierfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Coast Glitter No. 2 von John Kørner im April 2020 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 1.800,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 8.750,00 (€ 7.987,22) mehr als viermal so hoch. Für andere Arbeiten von John Kørner mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Bird Man beobachtet, die im Oktober 2014 für GBP 18.750,00 (€ 23.941,04) versteigert wurde.
