Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Johannes Gerardus Keulemans could be acquired at Christies in New York in February 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the THE HOUSE SALE auction, the work A Monograph of the Loriidae, or Brush-tongued Parrots: Six Plates changed hands for USD 1,195.00 (€ 1,108.64) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Johannes Gerardus Keulemans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A moho takahe (Notornis mantelli) in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 21,250.00 (€ 24,577.88).
