Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

The work Warrior by Jean-Michel Basquiat was sold in the We Are All Warriors: The Basquiat Auction auction at Christies in Hong Kong in March 2021. Here, the upper estimate of HKD 320,000,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for HKD 323,600,000.00 (€ 35,438,099.29). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jean-Michel Basquiat - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in May 2017 for USD 110,487,500.00 (€ 98,333,481.67).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Die Arbeit Warrior von Jean-Michel Basquiat wurde im März 2021 in der Auktion We Are All Warriors: The Basquiat Auction bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von HKD 320.000.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für HKD 323.600.000,00 (€ 35.438.099,29) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Jean-Michel Basquiat mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit ohne Titel beobachtet, die im Mai 2017 für USD 110.487.500,00 (€ 98.333.481,67) versteigert wurde.
