Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2003 Christies in London held the auction At Home-British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper, which included the work Portrait of Paul Valéry; and Portrait of Helen Northumberland by Jean Isy de Botton. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 25.00 – 200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 29.38 (€ 42.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jean Isy de Botton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Coronation Portrait of Albert Frederick Arthur George His Majesty King George the Sixth of England in October 2020 with an auction result of USD 12,575.00 (€ 10,796.77).

Im Oktober 2003 führte Christies in London die Auktion At Home-British and Continental Pictures and Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Paul Valéry; and Portrait of Helen Northumberland von Jean Isy de Botton zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 25,00 – 200,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 29,38 (€ 42,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jean Isy de Botton erzielen.
