In December this year Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours, which included the work A river estuary with shipping and fishermen on the shore by Jan van Goyen. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 163,800.00 (€ 188,691.32), 64% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Jan van Goyen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Wooden Landing Stage On A Frozen River, Churches And A Windmill At Left On The Distant Shore in January 2014 with an auction result of USD 1,445,000.00 (€ 1,070,370.37).

Im Dezember diesen Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Part II: Paintings, Sculpture, Drawings and Watercolours durch, in der auch die Arbeit A river estuary with shipping and fishermen on the shore von Jan van Goyen zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 163.800,00 (€ 188.691,32) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jan van Goyen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit A Wooden Landing Stage On A Frozen River, Churches And A Windmill At Left On The Distant Shore im Januar 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.445.000,00 (€ 1.070.370,37).
