Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Hubert Robert could be acquired at Christies in New York in January this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E. Safra - Selling Without Reserve auction, the work A mother and child drawing wine from a barrel in a ruined wine cellar changed hands for USD 100,800.00 (€ 92,834.78) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 120,000.00 – 180,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hubert Robert achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Colonnade Et Jardins du Palais Médici: Gentlemen Sketching In An Italianate Garden; And Restes du Palais du Pape Jules: An Architectural Capriccio With Haymakers in July 2006 with an auction result of GBP 3,368,000.00 (€ 4,930,357.25).
In der Auktion Remastered: Old Masters from the Collection of J.E.
