Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nun In Church by Gwen John was sold in the Modern British & Irish Art auction at Christies in London in March 2016. The price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 7,102.12) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Gwen John achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Convalescent in July 2013 with an auction result of GBP 200,500.00 (€ 229,106.20).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Nun In Church von Gwen John wurde im März 2016 in der Auktion Modern British & Irish Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 7.102,12) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Gwen John erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Convalescent im Juli 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 200.500,00 (€ 229.106,20).
