Die Arbeit Sonntag Nachmittag von Gotthardt Kuehl kam im Oktober 2002 bei Christies in Amsterdam zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von EUR 7.767,50 und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 55 %. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Gotthardt Kuehl auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit „Paar am Teetisch“. im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 35.000,00.
