This artwork by Germaine Richier achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Paris in December 2017. In the Art Contemporain – Evening Sale auction, the work La Tauromachie sold for EUR 3,086,400.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 1,200,000.00. This high result makes La Tauromachie the most expensive artwork by Germaine Richier that we have observed at auctions so far.
