Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Three Children by Gerard Sekoto was sold in the Modern & Contemporary African Art auction at Bonhams in London in October last year. The price achieved of GBP 126,300.00 (€ 147,138.10) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gerard Sekoto - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a man (Lentswana), which sold at auction in September 2018 for GBP 380,750.00 (€ 427,631.20).
