This artwork by Georgius Jacobus Johannes van Os achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in December 2014. In the The I.Q. van Regteren Altena Collection Part II. Dutch and Flemish Drawings from 1500-1900 auction, the work Two Studies Of Swallowtail Butterflies, Wings Extended And Closed (Pl. 2) sold for EUR 2,500.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georgius Jacobus Johannes van Os achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Roses, peonies, irises, hollyhocks, narcissi, blazing star, primulas, marigolds and other flowers with a Five-spot burnet moth in a vase with a river god carved in relief on a plinth with tulips, morning glory, clematis, an Orange-tip butterfly, a Re in December 2005 with an auction result of GBP 22
Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Roses, peonies, irises, hollyhocks, narcissi, blazing star, primulas, marigolds and other flowers with a Five-spot burnet moth in a vase with a river god carved in relief on a plinth with tulips, morning glory, clematis, an Orange-tip butterfly, a Re im Dezember 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 220.800,00 (€ 320.478,84).
