In April 2007 Christies in New York held the auction 19th Century European Art & Orientalist Art, which included the work The Great Pyramids of Giza by Georg Macco. The »bidding war« ended at USD 10,800.00 (€ 7,906.30), 35% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Georg Macco have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Orange Seller, Outside Bab Zuwayla, Cairo in April 2006 with an auction result of USD 48,000.00 (€ 38,022.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 35 % übertroffen
Im April 2007 führte Christies in New York die Auktion 19th Century European Art & Orientalist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Great Pyramids of Giza von Georg Macco zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 10.800,00 (€ 7.906,30) und damit 35% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Georg Macco auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Orange Seller, Outside Bab Zuwayla, Cairo im April 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 48.000,00 (€ 38.022,81).
