Auction result well in line with expectations
The work An extensive river landscape with herdsmen and cattle among classical ruins by Gennaro Greco was sold in the Old Master Paintings auction at Christies in New York in October 2000. It changed hands for a price of USD 19,975.00 (€ 23,538.77) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Gennaro Greco - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Italianate coastal landscapes with figures by classical ruins and shipping off the shore, which sold at auction in December 2006 for GBP 48,000.00 (€ 71,238.01).
