Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2008 Sothebys in New York held the auction Modern & Contemporary Indian Art, which included the work Christ On Palm Sunday by Francis Newton Souza. The price achieved of USD 266,500.00 (€ 189,262.13) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 220,000.00 – 320,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Francis Newton Souza achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Birth in September 2015 with an auction result of USD 4,085,000.00 (€ 3,659,738.40).

Im September 2008 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Modern & Contemporary Indian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Christ On Palm Sunday von Francis Newton Souza zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 266.500,00 (€ 189.262,13) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 220.000,00 – 320.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Francis Newton Souza erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Birth im September 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.085.000,00 (€ 3.659.738,40).
