The work 1997, No.8 by Fang Lijun was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in Association with Poly Auction auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in December 2020. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 1,638,000.00 (€ 172,773.51), 64% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Fang Lijun achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Series 2 No. 4 in October 2014 with an auction result of HKD 59,480,000.00 (€ 6,123,639.27).
