Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2004 Christies in London held the auction Exploration and Travel with The Polar Sale, which included the work Birdie Reading Observations On The Ramp. June 6Th.11. by Edward Adrian Wilson. The price achieved of GBP 9,560.00 (€ 13,927.71) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Adrian Wilson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The sledge party to White Island, February 1902: Shackleton, Wilson and Ferrar preparing to set out; Shackleton and Wilson making camp, which sold at auction in September 2007 for GBP 22,100.00 (€ 31,689.77).
