Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Salmon Trap by David Cox was sold in the Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 auction at Christies in London in July last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,300.00 (€ 7,523.32) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by David Cox have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rhyl Sands in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 43,020.00 (€ 67,367.10).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit The Salmon Trap von David Cox wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion Old Master and British Works on Paper: Drawings, Watercolours and Prints 1500-1900 bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 6.000,00 – 10.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 6.300,00 (€ 7.523,32) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Cox auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Rhyl Sands im November 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.020,00 (€ 67.367,10).
