In March last year Christies in London held the auction Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art, which included the work Stacking Hay by David Cox. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 8,820.00 (€ 10,457.10), 47% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by David Cox have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rhyl Sands in November 2002 with an auction result of GBP 43,020.00 (€ 67,367.10).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 47 % übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Dramas of Light and Land: The Martyn Gregory Collection of British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Stacking Hay von David Cox zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 8.820,00 (€ 10.457,10) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Cox auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Rhyl Sands im November 2002 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 43.020,00 (€ 67.367,10).
