Oil on artist's board, 11 ¾ by 13 inches (sight), signed "Chesley Bonestell" lower right ink, caption in pencil to back of frame in Hulda Bonestell's hand: "Fantasy of Neptune | 1961 | Oil on artboard | [Think prob. never published]". Matted and framed to 18 by 19 ½ inches.

This artwork by Chesley Bonestell achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in November 2018. In the Space Exploration auction, the work "Fantasy Of Neptune," Circa 1960 sold for USD 11,250.00 (€ 9,935.53) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chesley Bonestell; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A Panoramic View Of The San Francisco Bay And Treasure Island sold at auction in August 2019 with the realized price of USD 13,825.00 (€ 12,580.76).
