Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2011 Christies in London held the auction Maritime Art, which included the work Dutch fishing smacks and trading vessels off the coast in a heavy swell by Charles Martin Powell. The price achieved of GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,377.74) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Admittedly, works by Charles Martin Powell have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work A Dutch Merchantman And Other Shipping Passing A British Frigate Anchored Off The Dutch Coast in November 2001 with an auction result of GBP 15,275.00 (€ 24,307.34).
