Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work German The Gulf Of Naples, Viewed From The Capo Di Monte by Carl Wilhelm Götzloff was auctioned at Sothebys in London in May 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 18,750.00 (€ 23,044.35). Other works by Carl Wilhelm Götzloff have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in June 2015 by the work „Castel dell'Ovo“. at EUR 43,750.00.
