Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Castor and Pollux (after the antique) by Carl Christian Constantin Hansen was sold in the Old Master & British Drawings auction at Christies in New York in January 2018. The price achieved of USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,017.38) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Carl Christian Constantin Hansen achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Danish Neptuns Tempel Ved Pestum (The Temple Of Poseidon, Paestum) in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 24,500.00 (€ 31,165.07).
