Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Brassaï could be acquired at Christies in New York in July 2018 for an unexpectedly low price. In the MoMA: Tracing Photography's History auction, the work Lovers' Quarrel, Bal des Quatre Saisons, rue de Lappe, Paris, 1932 changed hands for USD 6,000.00 (€ 5,125.58) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Brassaï have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Ciel Postiche (False Sky) in April 2001 with an auction result of USD 44,650.00 (€ 50,315.53).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Brassaï konnte im Juli 2018 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion MoMA: Tracing Photography's History wechselte die Arbeit Lovers' Quarrel, Bal des Quatre Saisons, rue de Lappe, Paris, 1932 für USD 6.000,00 (€ 5.125,58) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Brassaï auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Ciel Postiche (False Sky) im April 2001 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 44.650,00 (€ 50.315,53).
