Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shahrukh with Southern Stars (Two sided cut-out figure) by Bhupen Khakhar was sold in the South Asian Modern+Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in September 2009. The price achieved of USD 50,000.00 (€ 34,176.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Bhupen Khakhar achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Residency Bungalow in June this year with an auction result of GBP 1,984,400.00 (€ 2,309,499.96).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Shahrukh with Southern Stars (Two sided cut-out figure) von Bhupen Khakhar wurde im September 2009 in der Auktion South Asian Modern+Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 34.176,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Bhupen Khakhar erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Residency Bungalow im Juni diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.984.400,00 (€ 2.309.499,96).
