Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Betty Swanwick achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in London in April last year. In the Modern British and Irish Art auction, the work Sketch for The Folly sold for GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,800.98) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Betty Swanwick - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Flight of the Doves, which sold at auction in February 2008 for GBP 6,875.00 (€ 8,992.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Betty Swanwick erzielte im April letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Modern British and Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Sketch for The Folly für GBP 3.187,50 (€ 3.800,98) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.200,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Betty Swanwick mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Flight of the Doves beobachtet, die im Februar 2008 für GBP 6.875,00 (€ 8.992,23) versteigert wurde.
