In October last year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included this untitled work by Ben Enwonwu. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 28,020.00 (€ 32,642.99), 56% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ben Enwonwu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christine in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 1,095,000.00 (€ 1,270,121.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 56 % übertroffen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Ben Enwonwu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 28.020,00 (€ 32.642,99) und damit 56% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ben Enwonwu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christine im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.095.000,00 (€ 1.270.121,47).
