In March this year Bonhams held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Olokun Dancers (Framed) by Ben Enwonwu. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 239,700.00 (€ 272,705.05), 60% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ben Enwonwu have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Christine in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 1,095,000.00 (€ 1,270,121.47).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Olokun Dancers (Framed) von Ben Enwonwu zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 239.700,00 (€ 272.705,05) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ben Enwonwu auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Christine im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.095.000,00 (€ 1.270.121,47).
