Auction result well in line with expectations
In March this year Bonhams held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art, which included the work Moonlight Masquerade, 1943 (Framed) by Ben Enwonwu. The price achieved of GBP 48,180.00 (€ 54,814.06) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ben Enwonwu achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Christine in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 1,095,000.00 (€ 1,270,121.47).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Bonhams die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Moonlight Masquerade, 1943 (Framed) von Ben Enwonwu zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 48.180,00 (€ 54.814,06) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ben Enwonwu erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Christine im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.095.000,00 (€ 1.270.121,47).
