Auction result well in line with expectations
The work painting 1938 (red circle) by Ben Nicholson was auctioned at Christies in London in October this year. The price achieved of GBP 1,371,000.00 (€ 1,574,288.89) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ben Nicholson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work April 57 (Arbia 2), which sold at auction in November 2016 for GBP 3,749,000.00 (€ 4,423,451.41).
