Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Portrait of a richly dressed young man, half-length by Anthonie Palamedesz. was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 10,000.00 (€ 8,964.59). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anthonie Palamedesz. achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A guardroom interior with an officer sounding a trumpet before a mother and child in April 2006 with an auction result of GBP 93,600.00 (€ 135,091.25).
