Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work A panorama of Portsmouth harbour with hulks in line ahead and the fleet at anchor, including warships of the American and Spanish navies by Ambroise Louis Garneray was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2003, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 7,637.50 (€ 10,640.96). Admittedly, works by Ambroise Louis Garneray have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Vue de La Tour de Londres Depuis La Tamise in June 2006 with an auction result of EUR 105,600.00.

Als die Arbeit A panorama of Portsmouth harbour with hulks in line ahead and the fleet at anchor, including warships of the American and Spanish navies von Ambroise Louis Garneray im Mai 2003 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 7.637,50 (€ 10.640,96) den Besitzer.
