This artwork by Albert Nikolaevich Benois achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2007. In the Russian Art and Paintings auction, the work By The Lake sold for GBP 10,625.00 (€ 14,877.75) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Albert Nikolaevich Benois; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot View Of Venice From The Riva Degli Schiavoni sold at auction in November 2018 with the realized price of GBP 22,500.00 (€ 25,379.32).
