Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In October 2015 Sothebys in Hong Kong held the auction Modern and Contemporary Asian Art Evening Sale, which included the work Map Of China by Ai Weiwei. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 11,840,000.00 (€ 1,383,227.68), 18% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ai Weiwei - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads, which sold at auction in June 2015 for GBP 3,442,500.00 (€ 4,853,881.79).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Oktober 2015 führte Sothebys in Hong Kong die Auktion Modern and Contemporary Asian Art Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Map Of China von Ai Weiwei zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 11.840.000,00 (€ 1.383.227,68) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Ai Weiwei mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads beobachtet, die im Juni 2015 für GBP 3.442.500,00 (€ 4.853.881,79) versteigert wurde.
