Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Kui hua zi (Sunflower seeds) by Ai Weiwei was sold in the The World Is A Sphere: Art from the Faurschou Foundation auction at Christies in London in July 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 120,000.00 – 180,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 139,427.98) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ai Weiwei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads in June 2015 with an auction result of GBP 3,442,500.00 (€ 4,853,881.79).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Kui hua zi (Sunflower seeds) von Ai Weiwei wurde im Juli 2020 in der Auktion The World Is A Sphere: Art from the Faurschou Foundation bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 120.000,00 – 180.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 125.000,00 (€ 139.427,98) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ai Weiwei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Circle of Animals / Zodiac Heads im Juni 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 3.442.500,00 (€ 4.853.881,79).
