This artwork was inspired from a lovely trip to Egypt. The contrast between desert and sea is hopefully recognizable... in between a strip of fertile land. It simply looked great!

... another part of the series . I got the inspiration while looking at a white wall with yellowish moss. ... not particularly mysterious, but absolutely true.
Acrylic, wax, putty and tulle are a strange mix that I didn't know about. There were many surprises, some a bit tiring... the decisive inspiration usually often comes shortly before finishing, so the work process always remains exciting.

This artwork has a funny origin story. I sometimes pressed Japanese paper into an undried canvas painting and ironed the whole thing with chips of beeswax. I removed the waxy leaves with iridescent colors from the canvas in odd strips and placed them in a new order on a new canvas with the iron.

My association with this picture is brightly lit windows at night or in a dark season. It probably occurred to me while I was sitting on my balcony in a Berlin backyard at night. I really like this painting, because it was the first one in my then new studio.

Turquoise- Orange is my favorite contrast. For me the two colors represent fire and water. It has the same origin story as yellow and blue. Here too there is a decisive line and an overall attempt to harmoniously combine the two contrasting colors.

This is the first picture in my stripes series. While tidying up the studio, I found an old paint box with gouache and a box with oilsticks and just started working. The first three pictures were taken every month, all with a striped pattern and mostly in the same format. Until then, the choice of colors had been intuitive. From painting no. four it became clear, that the paintings had a seasonal reference, and that the whole thing could become a seasonal cycle.

This painting from the "blackandwhite" series could irritate the viewer's perception and - depending on the spatial distance to it- make different patterns visible. It's not just the white pattern and the black background that contrast with each other, but also the strict geometry with the handmade, irregular execution of tiny brush dots.

it happens that even after I have finished a painting I cannot find any associations... but my younger violin students always know a lot about it. In this case, a little boy explained to me, it was about a mountain range somewhere in the north... the first thing that comes to every musician's mind is the mountain king from Edvard Grieg's "Peer Gynt Suite".
