This is a drawing of a grevillia plant used to remediate strip mine toxins, part of an extensive series of drawings of plants which remediate environmental damage in earth and water.

A child's hooded jacket made from maps of the world, hangs on a branch. From both sleeves cascade the maps of the continents of the world, falling and rising to hang on the opposite end of the branch. A bird perches on the branch, looking down. The implied figure is in stasis, in between departure and destination.

The wind currents over the Atlantic Ocean are burned into my grandmother’s blanket, a blanket which has endured decades of small repairs as it got passed down through several generations. The edges of the blanket are cut away in a drawing of continental boundaries.
