His works are the result of his travels, which have taken him to every continent in the world apart from Antarctica. The Styrian artist Georg Brandner (*1956) primarily develops collages: oil paintings on canvas, which are coated with epoxy resin in a labor-intensive process, giving them a special radiance. Brandner processes stories and impressions from his travels. He searches for universality, for a boundless language that is understood everywhere. Influenced by personal experiences, he has developed a unique style. Brandner leads the viewer into a new world that has its roots in reality and yet shows what remains hidden to many. His works have been shown at over 300 exhibitions, including in the USA, Belgium, Hungary and China, and can be found in public and private collections worldwide. And the current exhibition at the Hofgalerie im Steiermarkhof in Graz is also captivating: Georg Brandner. My pilgrimage has attracted a record number of over 10,000 visitors so far. The exhibition runs until the finissage on April 4.

Brandner is not only showing his latest works, but also older glass and ceramic sculptures that have never been exhibited before: These »boat symbolisms« embody the artist's philosophy of life, representing traveling and returning. The pilgrim and creator Brandner, who participates in the Art.Salon artist program, is also active as a lecturer and curator. In 2012, he was awarded the culture prize of his native town of Leoben.Art.Salon

London, Tate Britain

It was one of the most moving decades in the history of the United Kingdom: the 1980s, characterized by strikes, protests and AIDS. Photographers documented this period and in some cases became political activists themselves through their images. The exhibition The 80s: Photographing Britain opens on November 21 at the Tate Britain in London.
