From April 7 to 10, 2022, the ninth edition of EXPO CHICAGO will take place in Chicago. In 2022, the international exhibition for contemporary and modern art will present more than 140 leading international exhibitors and, as every year, offer a high-quality platform for contemporary art and culture. In doing so, it builds on the city's history as a vibrant international cultural hub while engaging the contemporary art community and collectors in the region. The exhibition's core program includes the »/Dialogues-Panel,« hosted in collaboration with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), where leading figures in the art world will speak to one another. It also includes the »Northern Trust Exchange Stage,« where interactive panel discussions take place daily, as well as »IN/SITU.« This refers to a series of large-scale sculptures, videos, films and site-specific works. They will be installed in the expansive, vaulted architecture of Navy Pier's Festival Hall. Also part of the core program is »OVERRIDE | A Billboard Project.« It uses citywide digital billboards on the Chicago Digital Network (CDN) to display a curated selection of contemporary artworks throughout the city.
For nearly 40 years, the city of Chicago has hosted a global exhibition of contemporary and modern art and was the site of the first international art fair in the United States. From its very inception, EXPO CHICAGO has been dedicated to supporting local, regional and international arts communities.
With the exhibition Hanns Kunitzberger: Likeness 2002-2005, the Hamburger Kunsthalle is presenting the multi-part work of the same name by the Austrian artist. The multi-layered, abstract paintings have a magnetic effect on viewers. The exhibition opens on November 29.
In a major exhibition with over 150 exhibits, the Tate Modern sheds light on the beginnings of optical, kinetic and digital art. From November 28, the works of numerous renowned artists will be on display in Electric Dreams: Art and Technology Before the Internet in London.
