Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Calligraphy Couplet by Xiao Xian was sold in the Fine Modern Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy auction at POLY in Hong Kong in October 2014. The price achieved of HKD 41,300.00 (€ 4,251.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 20,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Xiao Xian achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Letters in September 2013 with an auction result of USD 100,000.00 (€ 73,882.53).

Die Arbeit Calligraphy Couplet von Xiao Xian wurde im Oktober 2014 in der Auktion Fine Modern Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy bei POLY in Hong Kong versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 41.300,00 (€ 4.251,96) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 20.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Xiao Xian erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Letters im September 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 73.882,53).
