Auction result well in line with expectations
The work From the window of the flat in Rome by Vasily Polenov was sold in the Russian Art auction at Christies in London in November 2011. The price achieved of GBP 46,850.00 (€ 54,692.58) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vasily Polenov achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'There were also women looking from afar off', 1908 105 x 167cm (41 1/2 x 66in). in March this year with an auction result of GBP 1,542,300.00 (€ 1,754,664.16).

Die Arbeit From the window of the flat in Rome von Vasily Polenov wurde im November 2011 in der Auktion Russian Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 46.850,00 (€ 54.692,58) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vasily Polenov erzielen.
